Psychiatrist
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for patients with ASD, OCD, impulse control disorders and related co-morbid conditions
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans, including medication management and therapeutic recommendations
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals
- Stay current with latest research and treatment approaches specific to ASD, OCD, and comorbid conditions
- Provide consultation and education to patients, families, and caregivers
- Participate in treatment team meetings to ensure coordinated care
- Document patient care according to medical and legal standards
- Contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives within the practice
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program
- Board certification in psychiatry
- Active medical license in New York
- DEA registration
- Fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry, neurodevelopmental disorders, or related specialty preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with ASD and OCD populations
- Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and treating comorbid conditions common in ASD populations, including:
- Anxiety disorders
- ADHD
- Depression
- Tic disorders
- Sleep disorders
- Sensory processing issues
- Experience working with patients across the lifespan (children, adolescents, and adults)
- Knowledge of community resources and support systems for individuals with ASD and OCD
- Experience with telehealth service delivery
- Background in research related to ASD, OCD, or comorbid conditions
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology for ASD, OCD, and related conditions
- Experience with various assessment tools and diagnostic criteria for ASD and OCD
- Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt communication style to meet diverse patient needs
- Sensitivity to the unique experiences of neurodivergent individuals
- Patient-centered approach that emphasizes dignity, autonomy, and quality of life
- Ability to explain complex medical concepts in accessible language
- Commitment to culturally responsive and trauma-informed care
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational and time management skills
