Ariella Maghen

Psychiatrist

Ariella Maghen, MD, is a psychiatrist whose clinical interests include neurodevelopmental disorders, mood disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She has a particular interest in researching novel therapeutics to improve mental health care, including psychedelic therapies. Dr. Maghen incorporates evidence-based medication management, psychotherapy, and lifestyle recommendations into a personalized treatment plan for each patient.
Dr. Maghen has published several first-author papers in peer-reviewed journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine. Her research has examined patient decision-making, refugee mental health, cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia, and the psychosocial experiences of altruistic living kidney donors. She has presented this work nationally at American Psychiatric Association conferences. She also serves as a manuscript reviewer for multiple medical and psychiatric journals.
She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from UCLA and her medical degree from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. She completed her psychiatry residency at Community Memorial Healthcare/Ventura County Medical Center, where she served as Education Chief Resident. During residency, she also completed adolescent psychiatry electives at Bellevue Hospital Center through NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
Outside of work, she enjoys museums, painting, and skiing. She is fluent in Hebrew and Farsi.
